Quepos to Drake Bay- Day Three

We caught a bus going S. from Quepos to Dominical where we needed to transfer buses. We were heading to Puerto Jimenez where we could get into Corcovado National Park. Corcovado is supposed to be one of the most pristine areas in the world and holds half of Costa Rica's biodiversity.

This bus trip was confusing and we met up with a couple going to Drake Bay instead which is the other side of Corcovado. We tagged along with them and ended up meeting a guy named Good Time Charlie in Dominical who offered us a ride to Sierpe where we got a water taxi to Drake Bay. In Sierpe we saw our first Scarle Macaws in a tree across from Las Vegas restaurant where we got the taxi. The taxi went right through the mangroves and saw Capuchins on a dock, White Ibis and many other birds that we didn't get a great look at because of the quick pace.

In Drake Bay we couldn't find our hostel so we went to Cabinas Murillo ($15 p.p). The rooms were nice but due to overflow in the rainy season they had a boil water advisory which was pretty annoying.

On our night walk we saw three species of gecko just at the hostel. Tungara Frogs were floating in puddles along the roads and calling loudly. Down a side street we found another Common Cat-eyed Snake. It was a pretty good night for just a quick walk around town.

The only unfortunate thing about being in Drake Bay is that the park is a lot harder to get into from here. By that I mean one trail was closed due to season and the other was only really accessible by boat and a day tour which costed $85 p.p. This was a little unsetling because the town also doesn't have a bank. There was no way we could have even if we had wanted to spend that amount of money!
